I do believe that the food stamps should be based off wages brought home not gross. We don't bring our gross payment. We bring home whats left from deductions as of taxes child support payments insurance payments and whatever else the job wants to pistol with you with or the government pistol whips you. Then we're left with a chump change. 90.9% of households cannot make it.  Especially for those that are on one income household and have kids. I've gotten told twice now that we make more than the recommended amount by $2. What's $2 going to buy it ain't going to buy nothing. I really think that the system needs an Outlook and an update. The prices of groceries have gone up the cost of living is gone up but yet our food stamps and everything else is stuck where it is. I'm a  disabled mother with a child. And we're trying to live off my husband's one income while we wait for my disability determination. My son gets SSI for his disabilities. Everything that we bring in isn't even enough to put food on the table. Between a $200 water bill because the city wants to rape us for our sewerage cost when there's only three people in the household and we only use $15 worth of water usage but they want to charge as $90 for sewer. TXU and encore wanting to charge outrageous prices. It's like nothing is good enough. Change starts with us as we are the people and we need to start speaking up and speaking out.
