Ban Animal testing

Ban Animal testing
Why this petition matters
Did you know “80% of the world still allows cosmetics to be tested on animals?” Animal testing goes back to the Ancient Greeks in the 4th and 3rd centuries BCE, with Aristotle (384–322 BCE) and Erasistratus (304–258 BCE) one of the first documented experiments on nonhuman animals. (Wikipedia, 2021).People should boycott animal-tested products because animals are dying; there are better ways to test if products are safe to use, and they should only be tested on animals when required by the FDA.
Animal testing can put animals in much pain and even kill them. “Terrified rabbits, rats, guinea pigs, and mice have substances forced down their throats, dripped into their eyes or smeared onto their skin before they are killed.”(Humane Society, 2021) As explained in the evidence above, animal testing is cruel and hurts the animals and puts them in a lot of pain, and could even kill them. Animal testing should be banned because it is the most inhumane way to test if products are safe for human use. “Millions of Animals Suffer and Die in Testing, Training, and Other Experiments. More than 100 million animals suffer and die in the U.S. every year in cruel chemical, drug, food, and cosmetics tests.” (PETA, 2021) One hundred million animals die in pain every year in the testing of products for humans. Animals should not be brought into matters that could be solved by not harming anyone. Animals should not be killed in pain for something that doesn't affect or benefit them in any way.
Alternative methods are available to test products on. “Alternatives to animal testing include sophisticated tests using human cells and tissues (also known as in vitro methods), advanced computer-modeling techniques” (PETA, 2021). As explained in the evidence above there are other ways to test if products are safe on humans. These methods don't harm anyone, not even animals. Animals should not have to get involved in matters that don't concern them or benefit them in any way. “These and other non-animal methods are not hindered by species differences that make applying animal test results to humans difficult or impossible, and they usually take less time to complete.” (PETA, 2021) Methods that do not require animals take less time. Why take more time to unnecessarily test products on animals when you could just use alternatives that don't harm anyone. There are other alternatives that take less time and don't harm animals available.
What cases the FDA makes it mandatory for something to be tested on animals. “FDA has consistently advised cosmetic manufacturers to employ whatever testing is appropriate and effective for substantiating the safety of their products. It remains the responsibility of the manufacturer to substantiate the safety of both ingredients and finished cosmetic products prior to marketing.”(2020) The FDA does not suggest companies perform animal tests but does not say they shouldn't. They say that companies should do whatever will work the best and still be safe for humans to use. The FDA should suggest that companies should not test on animals. Animal testing does test that products are safe for human use, but there are methods that dont harm anyone available. The FDA does not mandate animal testing nor do they say not to do it.
To begin with, the death of animals is taking place every year due to animal testing, better methods are available to test if products are safe for human use, and the FDA says to use whatever method to test products as long as it still gets tested efficiently. Animals should not be tested on when better methods are available and the same results are there. People should boycott products that have been tested on animals because there are better alternatives available that don't harm anyone.
