Cluster Headaches are said to be the most painful medical condition known to man. They are also known as Suicidal Headaches due to the pain being so extreme, some suffers take their own lives. Unfortunately, it is also a condition doctors and scientists know very little about.

1 out of 1000 people suffer from Cluster Headaches and most sufferers are male. Attacks usually start at night and can last from 10 minutes to hours with a pain level beyond what most have ever experienced. Most episodic sufferers experience at least one attack a day for approximately one month.  Some chronic sufferers can experience multiple attacks in a 24-hour period, and these attacks can continue for days to years.

Many sufferes find instant relief within 4-10 minutes of ministering high flow oxygen. Other prescribed medications can take up to 45 minutes to provide any relief. Unfortunitly, most sufferers must go to great lengths to get oxygen as most doctors refuse or can not prescribing it, or in some cases the state does not allow high flow oxygen for this condition. Other states deny the prescription completely, therefore doctors prescribe medicine.

The purpose of this petition is to get the FDA and scientist to reconsider the benefits of oxygen therapy and to approve high flow oxygen (15mlpm -25mlpm) for cluster headache for those who suffer, and to give the doctors the ability to prescribe oxygen to Cluster Attack sufferers at higher flow rates than the current standards.

Oxygen should be the first thing prescribed to a Cluster Attack sufferer but is usually the last thing prescribed and that is if the sufferer is even lucky enough to get a doctor that is familiar with Cluster Headaches and knows the benefit of Oxygen.
