Palm oil production is a major reason for deforestation across the world. The effects are devastating and things must change immediately. An example of the havoc palm oil is causing is that 'The World Wildlife Fund estimates that an area about the size of 300 football fields is cleared each hour in tropical rainforests for palm oil production'. This an enormous amount and is contributing hugely towards climate change. We are buying palm oil all the time without realising. It is NOT okay. By getting companies to tell you clearly and in a legible font on the front of their product if it contains palm oil, YOU can make an educated decision whether to buy it or not. Some companies tell you on the back but it is sometimes in tiny print and not obvious to the consumer. 

Trees and plants are massively helping the earth in so many different ways. Trees are preserving the deteriorating amount of natural habitats we have left for wild animals, macro and microorganisms. They absorb so much carbon and offset as much as they can by locking it up. By chopping trees down, we are releasing multiple years worth of carbon into the atmosphere. Buying a product with palm oil in is allowing this to continue.

Deforestation is not only damaging the environment but is making multiple animal and insect species highly endangered. Rainforests are rich in the things we need to keep this earth habitable and thriving. We are in the middle of a climate disaster. Something has got to change. Dramatically. Soon.
