Jeffrey Bennett started this petition to Fontana city council and

The Sale and use of Illegal Fireworks is Rampant in our city.  This 4th of July, the illegal fireworks started early and ran well into the evening.  The Fontana Police do not seem to be doing enough to curb these illegal fireworks.  What will it take for the city to realize just how bad it is?  Another explosion like the one that happened in Ontario?  There are a lot of reasons to ban all fireworks, there is the fire danger, the danger to people and their Property, the Health issue from the gasses that are produced from Fireworks.  But I can only think of two reason that we keep them.  First, there are the few individuals that use only legal fireworks for personal enjoyment, and second, Financial reasons.  Many charities and non profit organizations rely on the money from Fireworks sales to continue operations throughout the year.  But do these reasons outweigh the public good?  I am not sure.

We need the City Council to put the idea to a vote.  If the majority of peopke want to make a change, then that is what should happen.  We would like to see a ballot measure on the 2022 ballot to either continue to allow fireworks sales in the City, or to make all Fireworks Illegal.  I would like to see increased enforcement, and ultimately prosecution for the people that break the law by setting off Dangerous and illegal Fireworks within the city limits.

These illegal fireworks may look pretty, but they affect more than the people that set them off.  The 4th of July weekend is one of the most stressful times for pets. (More pets are reported lost over the 4th than any other.)  There are also our Veteran's that we should be concerned with.  As a Veteran myself, I know that the sounds from fireworks bring back far too may bad memories for myself and any other veteran.
