Reducing Plastic Production, One Product at a Time.

The Issue

As a coffee lover, I used to be a loyal customer of Folgers. However, when I began learning about the devastating impact of plastic waste on our environment, I stopped buying Folgers because their packaging is contributing to the plastic pollution crisis.

Did you know that 95% of the plastic that goes to recycling centers ends up in landfills? What's more, the plastic molecule does not occur in nature and never breaks down, which means that every bit of plastic that has ever been made still exists in one form or another. We need companies like Folgers to take responsibility for their environmental impact and make changes that benefit both people and the planet.

For the first century and a half of the company's history, Folgers containers were made of metal, which is much more eco-friendly than plastic. However, they switched to plastic packaging in 2003. As public awareness grows, it's hoped that Folgers will come to understand that switching to a more eco-friendly packaging that is increasingly being used by its competitors will be a smart business decision, not only for the sake of the environment but ultimately for the sake of their bottom line.

It's time for Folgers to step up as the industry leader and do their part in reducing plastic waste. Join me in calling on Folgers to bring back metal cans or find alternative eco-friendly packaging solutions. Let's show them that we care about the environment and demand responsible business practices.

Together we can make a difference!
