Folder Fort: Honor the lifetime storage plans customers already paid for
Il problema
Folder Fort customers who purchased Lifetime cloud storage should not have to start paying a recurring subscription to continue receiving the storage service they already paid for.
Many customers purchased Folder Fort Lifetime storage plans directly or through marketplaces such as StackSocial and AppSumo.
These plans were marketed as Lifetime products involving a one-time payment rather than a recurring subscription. Folder Fort's own marketing included statements such as:
“Pay once and have it for life. No renewal fees or extra charges.”
In 2026, Folder Fort introduced a new platform, Folder Fort 2.0, based on recurring subscriptions.
At first, existing Lifetime customers were reassured that upgrading was optional.
Folder Fort publicly stated that existing Lifetime accounts would continue operating, and its Lifetime Upgrade information told customers that remaining on Classic was acceptable and that their storage would remain available.
In June 2026, Folder Fort representatives also responded publicly to concerned Lifetime customers on Reddit, stating that existing Lifetime accounts would continue operating and were not being removed.
Now the situation has changed
In September 2026, Lifetime customers began seeing a notice stating:
“Classic — Closes November 16, 2026.”
At the same time, customers are being encouraged to migrate to Folder Fort 2.0.
The migration offer provides credits based on previously purchased Lifetime capacity — currently advertised as $40 per TB — together with promotional credits, a free introductory period and a 50% discount on future subscription renewals.
But a discount on a recurring subscription is fundamentally different from continuing to provide storage without recurring charges under a Lifetime purchase.
What we are asking Folder Fort to do
We are not demanding that Folder Fort maintain obsolete technology forever, nor are we asking to receive every new premium feature of Folder Fort 2.0 for free.
We are asking for something much simpler:
Honor the storage capacity that Lifetime customers already purchased without requiring a new recurring subscription.
If the Classic platform must be discontinued for technical or business reasons, Folder Fort should provide existing Lifetime customers with an equivalent way to continue using their purchased storage capacity without recurring charges.
This could include transferring the purchased Lifetime storage entitlement to Folder Fort 2.0 or providing an equivalent replacement service.
- A customer who purchased 1 TB Lifetime should retain 1 TB.
A customer who purchased 2 TB Lifetime should retain 2 TB.
A customer who purchased 3 TB Lifetime should retain 3 TB.
Without being required to pay a new monthly or annual subscription merely to retain the storage capacity already purchased.
Why customers are concerned
The issue is not simply the launch of Folder Fort 2.0.
The concern comes from the sequence of events:
- Customers purchased storage marketed as Lifetime and paid upfront.
- Folder Fort subsequently introduced Folder Fort 2.0 with recurring subscriptions.
- Existing Lifetime customers were publicly reassured that they could remain on Classic and that their accounts would continue working.
- Customers are now being told that Classic will close on November 16, 2026.
- The proposed migration involves credits and discounts toward a recurring subscription rather than simply preserving the previously purchased Lifetime entitlement.
- This has understandably led to concern among Lifetime customers around the world.
This is not an isolated concern
Folder Fort has an active Reddit community where Lifetime customers are already discussing the announced shutdown and its implications.

Our request
We call on Folder Fort to publicly confirm, before the announced November 16, 2026 Classic shutdown, that existing Lifetime customers will retain access to the amount of cloud storage they purchased without being required to enter into a recurring subscription.
If Classic is being retired, Lifetime entitlements should be transferred to Folder Fort 2.0 or to an equivalent replacement service.
We also ask Folder Fort to provide a clear written explanation of:
- what will happen to Lifetime accounts on November 16, 2026;
- what will happen to files remaining in Classic accounts;
- whether Lifetime customers will retain their purchased storage without recurring payments;
- how customers who do not accept the proposed paid migration will be treated.
- If you purchased a Folder Fort Lifetime plan
Please sign this petition and share it with other Folder Fort Lifetime customers.
In the comments, consider stating when you purchased your Lifetime plan, how much storage you purchased, where you purchased it (Folder Fort, StackSocial, AppSumo or elsewhere), and what communication you received concerning the November 16 shutdown.
Please do not publish sensitive account information, email addresses, payment details or other personal data.
The purpose of this petition is simple:
Folder Fort should honor the Lifetime storage capacity its customers already paid for.
