FM468FN Members: Help Urge Chief and Council to Enact the Animal Welfare Bylaws in FM468FN
The Issue
***PETITION SIGNAGE APPLICABLE TO FM468FN MEMBERS ONLY***
We are witnessing an unprecedented urgent need for animal welfare bylaws in our community. Our local FM468FN Animal Relocation Center has been tirelessly working to protect both constituents and their beloved pets within the 468 First Nation Reservation. However, without proper bylaws in place, their efforts are often hindered.
The proposed bylaws which were presented on January 26th, 2024 cover crucial areas such as animal neglect, community well-being, safety and responsible pet ownership. They also provide protective services for lost animals and measures against reservation pet-theft among others. These regulations are not just about protecting animals; they are about creating a safer environment for all members of our community.
Without these bylaws enacted soon, we are risking the safety & welfare of our community; facing a problem that can quickly get out of hand as animals become overpopulated, sick, etc. The benefits of having effective animal welfare laws in place extend beyond the well-being of our pets - they contribute significantly towards fostering a compassionate community that values the lives and rights of all its inhabitants.
We urge the Chief and Council to take immediate action on this matter. The time is now to enact these essential animal welfare bylaws for the betterment of Anzac's people and their pets alike. Please sign this petition if you too believe in creating a safer environment for both humans and animals within our community.
