Lift the ban that many rental places have placed on "aggressive breeds"

Lift the ban that many rental places have placed on "aggressive breeds"
The Issue
Many people see their dogs as family. Currently, I live alone with only my dog, but because she is an "aggressive" breed, my place to live is now being threatened. It is a discrimination many apartment complexes seem to have in my area and I'm not the first person living in my complex that they've come after. It is wrong for places to be able to deny someone residency based on their dog's breed or to make them choose between keeping their dog and having a place to live. Dogs, like children, are a product of their environment, any breed can be trained and raised to be well behaved and sweet, just as much as any child can be raised to be either a nice, good child, or a troubled child. Furthermore, discrimination against a person based on their dog's breed is the same as if you were to discriminate based on race. How is it that a society that has tried to end racism, and gets angry over racial stereotypes so quick to deem certain breeds "aggressive"? We have so many problems with racist stereotypes based on the actions of a few people, but people seem to have no problem doing the same things to dogs. Dogs are simply a product of their environment, anyone who's ever owned an "aggressive"breed can latest to that. If you let a dog, or teach a dog to, be out of control and aggressive, it will be; however, if you can train the dog to be friendly and well behaved, it will be, regardless of breed. Aggressive behavior depends on the owner, not the breed. People should be able to apply for a place to live without fear of having to choose between losing a member of their family or losing a roof over their heads. If this ban on so called"aggressive" breeds is lifted, more people will be able to keep their furry family members and more apartment complexes and other rental places may get mor business and more potential tenants, which could also help lower apartment rates, helping people who have trouble financially.
