TUITION COMPENSATION SHOULD EARLY TERMINATION OF FACE-TO-FACE INSTRUCTION OCCUR

TUITION COMPENSATION SHOULD EARLY TERMINATION OF FACE-TO-FACE INSTRUCTION OCCUR
The Issue
Florida Southern College made a deeply disturbing claim in its plan to reopen for the Fall semester of the 2020 year. The College states "should the College be required to end face-to-face instruction on campus before November 24, FSC will transition to robust remote learning..." in the following bullets the College states it will "NOT offer tuition refunds or credits".
This claim is frightening, to say the least. Following the transition to remote learning in the Spring semester of 2020, a majority of students found the education received through remote learning was significantly less valuable than face-to-face instruction. Despite the clear decline in the educational value and impact of classes the College also failed to significantly compensate a majority of the student body.
It is important to note that FSC is not a cheap school. It is a private costly institution. Following the pandemic several families are in clear financial distress and paying for a full-tuition with the possibility of face-to-face instruction being terminated mere weeks after returning to campus puts several students into a difficult dilemma. Do they choose to risk financial stability for what could be a mediocre education? Or do they transfer? Do they take the semester off and allow their dreams to be put on hold?
This move is one of a business, not a school, especially not a school putting the financial and mental wellbeing of their student body first. So I encourage you to sign this petition in hopes that Florida Southern College will rethink their decision of not compensating students' tuition in the event of early termination of face-to-face instruction.
(i.e. this petition is NOT asking for a FULL refund of tuition should classes be placed online before the intended date. However, this petition is asking for some level of compensation or credit for students and families in the case this does occur.)
