The 850 is in danger, currently Florida representatives are voting on a bill to change the area code of the entire panhandle of Florida (the 850) into 448. To all 850 natives, 850 is more than an area code, it means home, and it means a way of life. 850 is not only strong, it’s independent and unique, 850 has always rallied its natives when times of hardship were upon us and we needed to come together as a community, most recently hurricane Michael destroying Panama City and surrounding areas, the amount of “850 strong” banners hanging in destroyed buildings was surreal so to change this would be to destroy something that brings people in closer as a community. So I ask you, please, let the 850 remain the 850.
