Amid the growing pandemic of Covid-19 and school starting back up this august with classes being forced online, however FIU has decided to charge mandatory fees for "amenities" such as $10 athletic fee, $90 health fee, Lab fees and equipment fees despite most classes being remote and not having those equipments in use,  a $90 transportation fee, and a distance learning fee which students shouldn't have to pay for as most classes are already at home.This is disservice to the university's students especially considering that we are in a recession and in the middle of a pandemic. Students aren't sure how they are surviving day to day on the limited resources they have, imagine the stress of having to pay more than they usually have. FIU staff should be able to lower these funds and even absolve some of these fees or at least allocate funds to students to help pay.
