With Florida being among top states in rising COVID-19 cases, and with the Republican National Convention set to take place in Jacksonville, FL - our schools should not become another hotspot for cases to continue their climb. Although some districts have promised to employ some sort of protective means, in-person learning at such high capacities would still present a great risk to the well-being of students and their families. It is understood that education is key to the success of all youth, but definitely not at the cost of their health, and re-opening schools would only present more of an issue than what currently exists. The distanced learning methods used by school districts to finish off the school year at the beginning of the mandated lockdown were a step in the right direction for preventing the spread of the virus, and if reimplemented during the next year, it would only help our state to rid of it quicker - making the move back into a normal, in-person school environment a lot safer for students, employees, and their families.
