We can not afford to lose the 3rd election in a row in 2022. While the leaders of the Florida Democratic Party may be lovely people that we as Democrats share similar views with, their failed leadership brought us Ron DeSantis and won Rick Scott a seat in the US Senate in 2018.

The 2020 Election

Whether it was inexperience or sheer incompetence, the results of the election are once again a disaster for a state that has lost over 17,500 people to covid-19.  Five state legislative seats were lost to Republicans as were 2 Congressional Seats. To make matters much worse, this legislative session is when the legislature redraws the districts from which Florida voters elect their state representatives, state senators, and members of the U.S. House of Representatives. This is going to make it easier than ever for the GOP to gerrymander our state to their benefit.

This didn't have to happen. This is a state that voted for Obama TWICE, yet on November 3rd we saw Trump win Florida with over 375,000 votes. 

At this rate, Marco Rubio is going to sail into his 2022 Senate Victory and we will be stuck with Ron Desantis for a second term. Voters are already changing their voter registrations from Democrat to NPA(No Party Affiliation) out of sheer frustration, embarrassment, and protest. Florida's young and newly registered Democrat voters in the state are dismayed and disenfranchised by what they saw on November 3rd. BUT for now, they are still paying attention and waiting for answers. This action needs to be taken immediately to show that the party is listening to the voters and not just the Florida DEC elite.

We are asking that Terrie Rizzo refrains from running again for State FDP Chair. We also request that Juan Penalosa (who was hired by the FDP) step down or is asked to turn in his resignation. We also think it crucial that an independent entity is hired to look into how money that was donated was spent and to check for any financial discrepancies or corruption concerns.
