Greetings 

First of all I would like to thank you for taking the time to hear my story. My name is Shawn Springer I'm 38 years old serving a 30 year sentence in the Florida State Prison System for selling stolen property. I was offered 8 years but decided to go to trial and lost resulting in a 30year max sentence under the three strike law. I understand what I did was wrong and I know Ive made mistakes in the past but I am not the same man that walked through those gates 12 long years ago, just like the countless others serving these lengthy sentences under this law. I have never hurt anyone and I'm not a violent offender. I have learned so much from my stay in prison and I've been working and taking all my classes trying to take away as much as I can from this experience. I'm coming up for parole soon and I just want the opportunity to start my life over and be given the chance to be a productive member of society. Isnt rehabilitation, resocialization and reintegration the whole point? I have lost the opportunity to raise my daughter and to say one last goodbye to my mother who passed during my stay in prison and that is something I will have to live with the rest of my life. I truly believe I have paid my debt to society and just want to make the best of the rest of my life so any help will be greatly appreciated thank you again! Sincerely, Shawn
