FLOOR CROSSINGS IN CANADIAN PARLIAMENT

FLOOR CROSSINGS IN CANADIAN PARLIAMENT
The Issue
As a Canadian, I believe it is long overdue for our Federal Government to stop Members of Parliament from crossing the floor to join another party without a By-election.
If an MP decides that he or she wants to join another party from the one that constituents voted for, then a By-election must be held so that constituents can decide, otherwise it is insulting to those constituents.
As we have seen from the latest floor crossing by Marilyn Gladhu, constituents are protesting and saying to her on national TV and elsewhere, "Marilyn, this is not what we voted for here by any means. We voted for a Conservative government in Sarnia, Ontario and if you’re not willing to stand for it, then take it to a by-election!"
