Justice for the children of Christina Coe and Gilbert Bridewell!!
The Issue
When Flagler County Sheriff’s deputies arrived at a house west of Bunnell on Thursday, they immediately heard what neighbors had reported: a child screaming, according to a release. The child was yelling “Mommy! Mommy!” and deputies also heard loud noises which turned out to be a child banging his juice cup against the wall asking for something to drink, the sheriff's office said in the release.
Once deputies got inside they found three children: a 2-year-old, a 1-year-old and a 7-day-old.
They also found lots of trash and roaches.
“Numerous cockroaches were observed walking along the floor, walls, inside the refrigerator, crawling in the beds and also walking near a child’s pacifier,” the release said.
Deputies also observed feces on the walls and in the children's beds. When questioned by deputies, Coe stated that she was “trying her best,” the release said.Coe said the children had bathed earlier that day at a neighbor’s house. But deputies said the children were wearing dirty clothing, dirt covered their legs and feet and their diapers had not been changed, according to the release.
She told deputies that she had a plastic bathtub in the master bedroom for the children’s baths, but deputies said the tub was still in its original packaging and did not appear to be used, the release said.
Deputies contacted the Department of Children and Families, which removed the children from the home and placed them in the custody of a family member, the release said.
