I have lived in Hepburn Springs for several years and, like many residents across regional Victoria, I have witnessed first-hand the deteriorating and increasingly dangerous condition of our roads. Over the past two years, I have twice damaged wheels on my own car after hitting potholes. For many regional Victorians, this has become an everyday reality.

But this is about far more than damaged cars and repair bills. It is about safety and potentially lives.

That urgency has been brought into stark focus by the recent death of a 71-year-old motorcyclist following a crash on the Western Highway at Trawalla. Police received reports that his motorcycle may have struck a pothole before he lost control. The circumstances remain under investigation, but this tragedy highlights the potentially devastating consequences of dangerous road conditions.

The Victorian Government has announced substantially increased funding for road maintenance and pothole repairs across regional Victoria. That investment is welcome.

But announcing the money is not the same as publishing a plan.

Regional Victorians deserve to know: Which roads will be fixed? How are they being prioritised? What work will be undertaken? And when will it happen?

I am calling on the Victorian Government to publish a clear, region-by-region road repair plan identifying priority roads, proposed works and realistic timelines — including for Daylesford, Hepburn Shire and communities across regional Victoria.

This is about road safety, transparency and accountability.
