Fix the Manor House Gardens Fountain

Fix the Manor House Gardens Fountain
The Issue
Manor House Gardens (MHG) is a beautiful urban park that has been the centre of community life for many years. Friends of Manor House Gardens has seen the park change in recent times, and we are concerned about the decline in biodiversity and the overall appearance of the park.
The water fountain and aerator in the lake have been broken for over 6 months, which has led to stagnant water that is not only unsightly but also unhealthy for wildlife. The planting around the lake side is also in need of improvement as it lacks diversity and does not provide enough habitat for local wildlife. It is also over grown with reduced views of the lake and the manaor house.
According to research by The Wildlife Trusts, urban parks are essential habitats for many species of plants and animals. However, they are under threat from climate change, pollution, and habitat loss.
We believe that restoring MHG back to its former glory will benefit both people and wildlife. By fixing the water fountain and aerator in the lake, we can improve water quality and create a healthier environment for fish, birds, insects, and other aquatic creatures. Improving planting around the lake side will increase biodiversity by providing more food sources and shelter for local wildlife.
Therefore, Friends of Manor House Gardens is calling on Lewisham Council and Glendale Grounds Management Ltd., who manage MHG on behalf of the council to take action by fixing the water fountain and aerator in MHG's lake as soon as possible. Additionally, we urge them to improve planting around the lake side with native species that support local wildlife.
Together we can make a difference!
