The Issue

We, the undersigned residents and homeowners of Plantation, Florida, are formally requesting immediate review and revision of the city’s residential parking ordinances.

The current regulations create confusion, inconsistency, and unfair enforcement for homeowners and their guests. As written and enforced:

  • Guests are reportedly required to park only in driveways
  • Residents have been told permits are required for guest parking
  • The City has stated that such permits do not exist
  • Law enforcement has indicated they do not create these laws, only enforce them
  • This has resulted in residents receiving citations without clear guidance or viable legal parking options for visitors, service providers, or temporary guests.

In at least one instance, a household employee was ticketed while visiting a residence, despite no clear or accessible lawful alternative for parking.

This situation raises serious concerns regarding:

  • Lack of due process
  • Contradictory guidance from city departments
  • Inability for homeowners to reasonably accommodate guests
  • Selective or complaint-driven enforcement
  • We are not asking for special treatment—we are asking for clarity, fairness, and practical solutions.

We respectfully request that the City of Plantation:

  1. Clearly define where guests are legally permitted to park in residential neighborhoods
  2. Eliminate contradictory or unenforceable requirements (such as nonexistent permits)
  3. Establish reasonable accommodations for guests, service providers, and short-term visitors
  4. Ensure consistent and fair enforcement of all parking regulations
  5. Temporarily suspend enforcement of unclear ordinances until guidance is clarified

Our goal is simple:
To allow homeowners to reasonably host guests without fear of fines, confusion, or harassment.

By signing below, we support a review and revision of Plantation’s residential parking ordinances.
