Fix or replace Queens Park recs skatepark ramp

Fix or replace Queens Park recs skatepark ramp
The Issue
The Queens Park halfpipe is a proving ground of surprisingly legitimate design and standard. In a time when skateboarding is gaining recognition as an Olympic sport, such facilities are not just desirable but essential for our skateboard community.
While most of the Queens Park Recs skatepark was unfit for purpose from the start and has largely been destroyed, the halfpipe remained a beacon for skaters both locally and across the UK. It's a widely recognized spot which was used regularly despite its isolated appearance. When issues arose in the past, devoted community members would pool their efforts into DIY repairs, riveting peeled surfaces back down to render the ramp skateable again.
However, this time the damage is beyond what simple patchwork can fix. The ramp desperately requires a completely new surface.
Since the construction of Kelvingrove Skatepark in 2004, Glasgow City Council hasn't invested a single penny in skateboarding or any of the wheeled subcultures.
We need the Glasgow City Council to recognize the significance of this ramp and give it the attention it desperately needs. Providing skateboarders, BMXers, and other wheeled enthusiasts with safe and well-maintained facilities is crucial not just for the community, but for fostering and developing talent right here in Glasgow.
Join me in urging Glasgow City Council to step up and resurface the Queens Park Recreational ramp. Sign this petition and help keep our skate community thriving.
