Fix Flooding Damage at Galileo

The Issue

Galileo was built in 1921, making it over 100 years old. It's also only 2 blocks from the bay, so if there were ever a tsunami you would think the building could withstand water.

Think again. Recently San Francisco has had a lot if heavy rain, and twice this year it's been so bad that the first floor has flooded. This includes the cafeteria and a few classrooms. The cafeteria has had a gaping hole in the cieling since February, but our main concern is with room 101, where the Digital Communications pathway meets. The classroom has tech everywhere, including very expensive cameras and a green screen room. The first time it flooded the green screen room was checked for mold. 101 is also where the school wifi router is, so if that were to get damaged it would be a setback for all classes. Having wires be exposed to water is highly dangerous to all students and staff who regularly go into the classroom.

The school district can definitely afford to fix the building, but they won't. So a few students created a petition to change that.
