On November 14th a freshman at the university of Pittsburgh at Greensburg was hit by a car as she was crossing the street on her way to her off campus dorm room (University Courts). At the time of the accident the sun had gone down and there wasn’t adequate lighting to illuminate the passageway and crossing. While this was the first incident resulting in a tragedy, there have been numerous close calls.  The faculty and administrators have a responsibility and commitment to keep their students safe. I am calling on the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg to improve the lighting around campus.  I am also calling on the Hempfield township to increase public safety on that road for the sake of students.
