Jun 18, 2017 — Reminder: No iTown 2nd Reading on Monday (do not show up) News: It was announced during iTown's service today that they have purchased the southwest farm land on 136th and Brooks School Road. This land is next to I69 and is zoned I1 (industrial). To finalize that purchase, It is my understanding that there are some additional text amendments and/or rezoning for the new property that may be required. Stay engaged as iTown works to purchase and secure the necessary zoning & amendments. If something makes sense, support it, if it doesn't then don't. What's important is that you stay engaged in the discussion. So does this mean we're done? NO. Until the deal with the new property comes to a close, Gray Eagle is by no means "safe". iTown is keeping Gray Eagle in their back pocket in case something doesn't go through with the new property. Additionally, we need to work with the city and council to protect our green spaces (not just Gray Eagle) so that we can avoid this type of situation in the future; wherever that may be. I'll be continuing to work with city members to put in place a strategic plan on this issue. In the meantime, continue to stay engaged. This isn't over until iTown has a home and Gray Eagle has a long term solution.
