iTown Mega Church: Don't turn green spaces into parking lots and add more traffic.

Fishers is moving forward with a plan to rezone the area where the Gray Eagle Driving Range sits at 126th Street & Brooks School Rd. There is already enough traffic in this area as businesses have expanded and roads have been connected to others. Additionally, Brooks School Road is a two lane road and we want to keep it that way.
Adding a mega church in this area doesn't make sense as what is currently zoned at 35% impermeable surface now becomes 75% impermeable. We do no need more retention ponds and more parking space that simply lead to more impact to the environment. Additionally, where the church wants to build backs directly up to a neighborhood where rather than green grass, neighbors will get to see a massive structure and massive parking lot. Ultimately this lowers their property value as it's desirable to live on a golf course, not so much to live on a church parking lot.
The Fishers Council is also considering an impact fee to charge for the church for the surrounding area. Fees do not make up for land lost. This area needs to remain as is for those who live around it. There is plenty of land in Fishes along the areas that have the infrastructure to support it for this mega church. This is not one of those areas.
Please sign this petition to bring attention to this issue and block the building of this mega church. Either they need to fit within the original zoned restrictions or go elsewhere.
