First Bus to keep the 72 bus service in Bristol

The Issue

We the undersigned urge First Bus to retain the 72 service via Constable Road in the heart of Lockleaze.

Local residents, as well as students from Trinity Academy secondary school and the University of West England, rely on this route for daily essential travel. Removing the 72 service risks isolating community members and increasing reliance on car travel. This is incompatible with Bristol’s commitment to inclusivity and a net-zero future.

As construction will start soon on an additional 800 new homes in Lockleaze, the need for this service will only increase.

Halting the 72 service now goes against the wishes of First Bus customers and will worsen congestion and air quality.
