Restore the Bristol 5 Bus evening and Sunday Service

Restore the Bristol 5 Bus evening and Sunday Service
The Issue
We call on First Bus to reverse the decision to withdraw evening and Sunday services on the 5 Route.
This decision has left St Werburghs and other areas along the route with no public transport service on evenings and Sundays. Many in the local area rely on this bus as there is no alternative service. The effects of the reduction are many:
- No accessible means of travel for those with limited mobility
- Difficult to travel home safely after 8pm - this is a public safety concern
- At a time where we are being encouraged to 'return to the high street', a large section of Bristol will be cut off from shops and city attractions for half the weekend, impacting on the local economy
- The Brooks Dye Works Development and return of students to the city will bring many more to the local area - it is extremely short-sighted to reduce the service at this time
- Car ownership in this area is low and parking extremely limited, many rely on the bus to get to and from town/work
- The route serves Glenside Campus which houses a number of Student nurses working outside of a 9-5 shift pattern, who will now have fewer options for travel
- Increased car usage/pollution/congestion - this is out of step with the city's green agenda.
We implore First to restore the 5 to it's previous timetable with immediate effect.
