Firework display sales to be licenced & only noise reduced fireworks to be sold to public.

Firework display sales to be licenced & only noise reduced fireworks to be sold to public.
The Issue
If you find firework noise and frequency distressing...read on to influence change!
We are part of the foundation group at the College of West Anglia a very inclusive college and our petition stems from this ethos. We support many students with diverse needs and we want to support our friends, family, pets and local community with this current issue.
Whilst we appreciate the beauty of fireworks, the noise and disruption with the volume of these and the frequency of displays, often over 3 weeks around firework night, we recognise the stress, PTSD and anxiety this causes to the neuro diverse community, domestic animals, farm animals and wildlife.
We students have researched the detrimental effects of widespread public access to fireworks, often seeing high anxiety due to the high decibel levels associated with traditional fireworks.
Public firework displays have the potential to wreak havoc, causing property damage, physical injuries, and unduly affecting vulnerable communities. World Health Organization guidelines recommend that exposure to noise levels greater than 83 decibels can be harmful. Nevertheless, many fireworks produce noise above 120 decibels.
In an effort to promote community wellbeing, including the express needs of young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities, we implore that the law be changed: to restrict firework sale to licenced public only and mandate the use of noise-reduced fireworks. This will help in reducing unexpected loud noises that may cause distress, panic attacks, heightened anxiety, and other detrimental impacts on our neuro diverse community, animals and vulnerable community members.
In a world where we have the means and cinematography to create visually breath-taking displays without the need for harmful noise levels, we need to safeguard the welfare of all our citizens and mandate sensible and compassionate measures. Please help us amplify the voices of those affected and join us in advocating for this change. Sign this petition today!
