Imagine reaching out desperately for help, over and over again, in the hope that someone in power will finally listen to your cries and take action to protect vulnerable children. Yet, despite your numerous phone calls and emails, seeking assistance and demanding accountability, your pleas are met with an unsettling silence.

This has been my painful reality as I've tried, in vain, to get the attention of Texas Child Protective Services Commissioner Audrey O'Neil. Her failure to acknowledge or act upon repeated child abuse allegations is not just an administrative oversight—it's a gross neglect of duty that puts innocent lives at risk.

Child abuse is a grave issue in Texas, and the numbers are alarming. According to the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services, in the last year alone, there were over 63,000 confirmed cases of child abuse. Each statistic represents a child who needs—but may not be receiving—the protection and intervention from CPS that they greatly deserve. Our system is meant to safeguard these children, to provide them a safe environment where they can grow and thrive without fear. But how can this be possible if those in charge, like Commissioner O'Neil, are not taking the necessary actions?

By failing to act, Commissioner O'Neil is not only disregarding her professional responsibilities but also severely impacting the lives of children who are left vulnerable to further harm. This is not just a personal grievance; it's a systemic failure that affects countless families across Texas.

We need leaders who are proactive, compassionate, and committed to protecting our most vulnerable members of society. As taxpayers and constituents, we have the right to demand better. It's time for a change in leadership at Texas CPS. We need someone who will respond to allegations responsibly, ensure thorough investigations are conducted, and prioritize the safety of all children.
