Fire Principal at Big Springs Elementary for Discrimination

The Issue

I want to share an ongoing, deeply personal issue happening at Big Springs Elementary School in Siskiyou County, CA, that affects my family. My three children, aged 11, 9, and 8, are being mistreated by the school principal due to their medical conditions. Although they look like all other kids, their conditions make them 'different,' and instead of receiving support, they are being stereotyped and blamed for the bullying they endure. The principal even went so far as to say that they deserve the bullying because of their disabilities, which she embarrassingly claims tarnish the school's social image.

Discrimination in any form is unacceptable, and when it affects defenseless children, it becomes a grave injustice. Schools should be places where children feel safe and supported, not judged or belittled. Principals and school administrators are meant to be allies to families and students, especially those who need a little extra understanding and empathy. Allowing this sort of toxic environment not only harms my children but sets a dangerous precedent for how we treat children with disabilities in our community.

We need action now to ensure that our schools are inclusive and that every child, regardless of their medical conditions or any differences, can attend school with dignity and respect. The principal at Big Springs Elementary must be held accountable for their discriminatory actions. Only by removing this principal and replacing them with leadership that values all students equally can we start to mend the harm caused and protect other families from similar experiences.

Please join me in urging the Siskiyou County School District to take immediate steps to terminate the principal. We must stand together to affirm that discrimination has no place in our schools and that every child deserves an education free from harassment and bias. Please sign this petition to advocate for change and accountability in our educational system. Together, we can create a better future for every child at Big Springs Elementary School.
