Fire Pete Hegseth for Promoting a Ban on Women Voting

Fire Pete Hegseth for Promoting a Ban on Women Voting
The Issue
The right to vote is sacred—and hard-won. But in 2025, the U.S. Secretary of Defense, Pete Hegseth, reposted a video promoting pastors who argue that women should no longer be allowed to vote. These pastors, associated with a Christian nationalist movement, openly advocate for repealing women’s suffrage and ending female leadership in both the military and civic life. And Hegseth didn’t just share their message—he praised it, writing: “All of Christ for All of Life.”
This is not just fringe rhetoric. It’s a high-ranking government official using his platform to amplify views that directly threaten the civil liberties of over half the population. Hegseth also held Christian prayer services inside the Pentagon during business hours, reportedly sending invitations through government email accounts—actions that blur the lines between personal belief and public duty.
Religious freedom is a fundamental American value. But so is the separation of church and state. And when someone in charge of our military promotes the idea that women should be silent, submissive, and stripped of democratic power, that’s not freedom—it’s a warning sign.
We need accountability now. The Defense Secretary of the United States should not be promoting leaders who call for a rollback of constitutional rights. Our government must represent all Americans—regardless of gender, religion, or beliefs.
We are calling on Congress and the Department of Defense to investigate Secretary Hegseth’s conduct and determine whether his promotion of anti-democratic, theocratic ideology disqualifies him from serving the American people.
Every woman in this country deserves to know her vote—and her voice—still matter. Sign this petition if you believe no government official should ever support taking that away.
