James Richardson Comer Jr. is an American politician, farmer, and businessperson, born in 1972 in Kentucky. He is a member of the Republican Party and has been representing Kentucky's 1st congressional district in the United States House of Representatives since 2016. Comer began his political career in the Kentucky House of Representatives, where he served from 2001 to 2012. He then served as the Agriculture Commissioner of Kentucky from 2012 to 2015. Throughout his tenure in Congress, Comer has been involved in various legislative activities and committees. Prior to his congressional career, he held roles such as chairperson and delegate, demonstrating his long-standing commitment to public service in Kentucky.
