The Issue
Mrs. Letz, our principal, has been making school an uncomfortable and hostile place for students of color. On numerous occasions, she has referred to students using derogatory racial slurs, including calling them the deeply offensive 'N-word'. What makes this even more painful is the differential treatment she offers based on racial lines, punishing black students for actions that she overlooks when white students do the same things.
This behavior is unacceptable and has no place in our educational environment, which should be an inclusive safe haven for all students regardless of their race. Schools are meant to teach values of equality, respect, and understanding. Instead, under Mrs. Letz's administration, these values are being trampled.
There have been too many instances where students of color are disproportionately punished or singled out under Mrs. Letz's tenure. Her actions contribute to systemic racism, perpetuating discrimination that can have long-lasting effects on young minds.
Racism in any form must be addressed, especially when it comes from a place of authority. It's essential for educational leaders to set an example of fairness and tolerance. Mrs. Letz's repeated racist actions indicate that she is not fit to lead or foster an inclusive school environment.
We call on our school board and local education authorities to take decisive action by dismissing Mrs. Letz from her position to restore a respectful and just school atmosphere. Join us in this fight for equality and help us create a better and fairer educational experience for all students.
