Mrs. Newman, a teacher at Canton Central High School, has shown repeatedly that she is not fit to hold a position of influence and responsibility within our educational community. Her behaviour has negatively impacted countless students, including myself. In several instances, she has singled out certain individuals, unfairly subjecting them to her ire while others receive preferential treatment. Her conduct goes beyond mere unfairness, and has crossed into the realm of racial inequality.

Students from various backgrounds, including myself, have been targeted and subjected to racially insensitive remarks. These statements, which I have personally witnessed and heard from other students, contribute to an unwelcoming and divisive atmosphere at Canton Central High School, an institution that should be a safe and inclusive environment for growth and learning.

For instance, Mrs. Newman has repeatedly targeted students of diverse backgrounds with comments that do not align with the values of respect and equality. Her disrespectful attitude has created an environment of fear and division, making it difficult to focus on education when confronted with such bias on a regular basis.

Targeted students have shared experiences that are heart-wrenching and disheartening, showcasing a pattern that cannot be dismissed as isolated incidents. This behaviour reflects poorly not only on herself but on the school administration for permitting her to continue in her role without consequence.

For the sake of current and future students, immediate action needs to be taken to ensure that Canton Central High School remains a nurturing and accepting environment for all its students. We demand that the school administration replace Mrs. Newman with an educator who embodies the principles of respect, inclusivity, and fairness.
