On May 27th, 2025, The Burnaby School Board of Education passed a budget that is dismantling our children's education and access to programs that are essential to their growth. 

They admitted to betraying our children, and despite many saying they did not want to pass the budget, they all agreed unanimously to do so. The Board of Education has failed to make changes to the budget or listen to the feedback of stakeholders. 

They are responsible for the gross financial mismanagement of Burnaby School District funds. This was a foreseeable event that could have been avoided, had they addressed this when these issues were brought to their attention instead of sweeping them under the carpet. Rather than taking responsibility, they shifted the blame onto the province.

They have lost the public's trust and deserve to be held accountable for their actions. The school board has been pleading poverty to our children while living like kings and queens with overinflated salaries. 

I am calling upon Education Minister Beare to use her authority under the School Act to fire the entire school board.
