Financial Rescue

Financial Rescue
The Issue
My name is Braiden Pope, I am 24 years old, I graduated from Smiths Station High School in 2019, I am a father to one beautiful girl Marleigh Pope who is 3 years of age, and I also attend Chattahoochee Valley Community College. After completing high school, I began looking for majors with an extensive view of helping and providing change. Law enforcement has always spoke to me, I want to help young adults achieve their financial goals and support my community during my time I yearnfully spend as an officer in one of the fine police departments in the tri-city. Throughout my time in school, Dr. Tingle who is representing our course of public speaking has opened many communicational successes in our time. Reaching for the last bit of our 2025 spring semester, we have been given the challenge of creating a persuasive speech. I understood I could talk about one of the many over used topics. But I thought back to problems I faced as a young adult that I could actually improve. It was money, and everything involving money. I was terrified, not knowing how to write a paper check, setting up a Roth IRA account for myself and my daughter. I did not hear what a Roth IRA was until I was 22 years old. We have the ability to change that. We have the ability to teach our kids what rent is before leaving mom and dad's home. How to write a paper check and how to successfully ride the wave of adulthood with a smile and knowledge of what everything is in our practice book before it is put into your official playbook out on your own. With a 4-level system within the Lee County Schools, financial literacy being the course name and matter for petition can be improved and viewed as a positive thing, not boring and/or unpleasant. Beginning in high school students will be required to pass 4 classes with a simple system. Just as we must take a PE every year. One class each year of high school that prepares the students for paying rent, budgeting, saving, marketing, investing, hobby jobs to make money, online banking and in person instances. Financial literacy isn't help with the future, it is the future, it is how we as humans, live, breath, buy things, sell things, invest in business and even BEGIN a business. It is in the hands of our financial literacy. All of these things can be taught and learned with motivated teachers and a positive attitude from the students!
