The Issue

The exodus of Kashmiri Hindus is not just a chapter in history; it is a heart-wrenching saga of systemic violence, fear, and forced displacement that led to the uprooting of thousands from their ancestral homes. This tragic event continues to be a personal pain for me, as it should be for every humanistic soul. Imagine being thrust into a nightmarish scenario where you are coerced, threatened, and ultimately forced to flee from your land, leaving behind generations of heritage and memories. This was the harsh reality for lakhs of Kashmiri Hindus, who were lynched, butchered, and compelled to abandon their homes simply because they held steadfast to their religious beliefs, choosing not to convert.

The government in power during that time has still not been held accountable for their failure to protect their citizens. In the midst of this turmoil, justice remains elusive to the victims and their families. Despite years of struggle, there has been no proper reinvestigation into this ethnic cleansing, nor any substantial steps taken to rehabilitate the victims back into their homeland with dignity and safety.

This petition is not only a demand for justice, but a call to action. We urge the immediate filing of a public interest litigation to begin a rigorous reinvestigation into the events that led up to this catastrophic exodus. Only then can we expect to hold the responsible parties accountable for their actions or inactions that resulted in such widespread human suffering.

Furthermore, it is imperative that the government take swift measures to compensate the families affected by this tragedy. Compensation would not only serve as a financial relief but also as a symbolic acknowledgement from the state for its past failures. Most importantly, the victims deserve a safe passage and rehabilitation back to their roots. This is crucial for healing the deep wounds inflicted by this harrowing episode.

Let us come together to bring justice and closure to the Kashmiri Hindu families who have lived with the pain of this exodus for far too long. By signing this petition, you are not only advocating for justice and accountability but also standing up for human rights, dignity, and the freedom to live without fear. Please join us in this crucial fight for justice and humanity by signing this petition.
