Fighting Inflation

Fighting Inflation

The Issue

With inflation creeping up, the repercussions are felt heavily in California. As the minimum wage scales up to $20 an hour, so too do the prices of essentials. It's a double-edged sword: while the intent might be to combat inflation, the reality is far from ideal. Even with the wage increase, companies find themselves compelled to cut hours and raise prices in order to still make a profit. Raising the minimum wage alone isn't enough. What's truly needed is regulation. Take, for instance, the case of Subway. Once, their footlong were around $6 or $7. Now, they brag of their $6 for six inches as if it were a bargain. It's pure delusion. Even more than that the cost of housing in Califonia, but more specifically in Los Angeles is outrageous.

$2,100 a month for rent in Los Angeles, and maybe this would be justifiable for a 3 bedroom 2 bathroom apartment, but not this is for a mere 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom. It's simply unfair. It's borderline robbery. Inflation affecting housing has led to already bad areas of the city getting worse, with more people turning to drugs in an effort to cope with the stress that living in this city gives. Bad areas turning worse, assault rates rising, and mental health is declining. It is time to deal with the detrimental effects of inflation once and for all.
