Hi everyone! I wanted to start by saying thank you for taking the time out of your busy schedule to read about my petition. My name is Zoe LaPraim, a senior at Aledo High School. A local teacher, Dr. Lewis is being forced to resign or risk non-renewal. Dr. Lewis was my teacher in my junior year for AP US History and has taken up the task of teaching a sophomore- Senior course, AP Psychology. The school principal has informed him that due to his low AP test scores the previous school year- 2022- 2023 he is no longer up to Aledo teaching standards (Aledo Worthy).  However, these test scores were incredibly low for the entire nation. The global pass rate for this exam was 47.5%, the state of Texas pass rate was 32.4%, meanwhile his pass rate 32.5%. In the 2021- 22 school year, the global pass rate was 47%, the state of Texas pass rate was 27.9% and his pass rate was 50%. Knowing this, his average was higher than both the Global and State pass rates. In addition to this, the 2022-2023 was the first year the AP test was online, where the system crashed for many students. Also, it has been announced that the test was harder than any previous test.  Therefore, this is a false accusation due to inconsistent data. The school gave him 4 days to make a life-altering decision, which led him to then resign under duress after a probationary contract. Dr. Lewis has been one of the most amazing teachers I have ever been in class with. Aledo has had a very difficult time finding new teachers and here they are letting go of an amazing one.
