The higher-ups in the Blue Valley District are removing fifth-grade strings, our school will go from one of the best string orchestras to one of the worst in the metro KC area. When students come to middle school they are overwhelmed by the number of new stuff they get to do, which may make fewer and fewer people do strings in general.

If Blue Valley cuts 5th-grade strings, many kids might lose the chance to discover a talent or passion they didn’t know they had, and some could miss out on future opportunities like middle school and high school orchestra or even scholarships. Keeping the 5th-grade strings program is a smart way to support students’ education and help them grow into well-rounded people.
