Alec Murray started this petition to Fife Council

The number of nesting gulls on buildings has increased over recent years. During the long light of summer months the constant noise between April and August can be extremely distressing and evidence suggests is even bad for your health. Compounding the fact that Fife residents have been injured in the past by protective ‘parents’ (ref: Inverkeithing and Rosyth 2019-2021) and the mess they make emptying bins and with their acidic poop on cars and buildings - we call on Fife council to make a positive and fairer change, and help its residents deal with a problem that will only escalate. If “gulls require at least 4 years to change nesting habits” [ref: committee convened in 2019 by Cllr. McGarry on the same issue] isn’t it time we did something about it?! Signs on lampposts not to feed them is simply not enough and devolving responsibility to individual property owners is now intolerable and won’t deal with the issue. We, the undersigned, can’t enjoy our gardens, our streets, our community without your (Fife council’s) help and intervention.

We would like;

* A committee reconvened to discuss potential support and co-designed solutions for local residents - from our council.
