WHAT - Overview:

• The dog-owners from Surin, Hougang, Kovan area, and the neighborhood have always struggled with choices for a safe and large enclosed/fenced space to allow their canine companions (small/medium/large) to have their well-deserved time to bond with others (open space that is fenced and endorsed by NPark or respective authorities as deemed appropriate).  
• Currently, there is no public dog run in the Hougan/Kovan/Serangoon estates to accommodate safe, off-leash dog activities and we wish to benefit from a well-maintained space open to all dog lovers and friends who will be willing to uphold the park’s rules and restrictions.
• Our goal of this petition is to support the construction of an enclosed, off-leash dog run within Surin Park.

WHY - How does this help:

• This dog run (or just fencing as requested) aims to satisfy the needs of dog-owners and non-dog owners alike. The intent of this proposal is to allow a vibrant community to flourish, supported in large parts by dog-owners and maintained in partnership with NParks.
• We totally understand and respect all perspectives and recognize an ideal solution is to have this endorsed, fenced space for dogs. We want a community where everyone, including dog owners, can live in harmony and be respectful of each other's sentiments. 
• The pet owners visiting the Park over the years, have fostered a tight-knit community and have been looking forward to having this space where their dogs may run freely and safely, off-leash.
• Such fencing (dog run - double gated for safety) would allow dogs to run freely, beyond the limitations of walking on a leash or area of residential living spaces.
• This would further foster a vibrant community where people of all groups may enjoy the ambiance with our canine companions! 

HOW - Suggestions:

This petition is for your kind consideration and this proposal may require lesser funding. The request is only for land approval and fencing of a small area deemed appropriate at Surin Park (Map / Location) with your support and endorsement:

1. Water Feature - Available
2. Waste Bins - Available
3. Maintenance - Given to understand that this is already in effect
4. Large space that is not used as a playground (depicted in the photo)
5. Central to Hougang, Charlton, Kovan, and Surin communities - ideal location
