Oakland University refuses to feed their students on weekends because they don't "get enough foot traffic" in Hillcrest hall, therefor the hundreds of students in there have no access to food if they don't have money even with a dining plan. Disabled students are unable to make it across campus in poor condition and are left with no food if they do not have any on their own. Even if the student is abled body, they must walk through UNSALTED sidewalks and in snowstorms. On weekends the SINGLE dining hall does not open till 10AM, after many student workers start their shift, leaving them with no breakfast without spending money. 

What is the point of a meal plan if certain students can't use it on 3 days of the week? Those in Hillcrest Hall spend MORE MONEY to live in a building that can't feed them? A building with raw sewage and MOLD in the pipes? Oakland University is failing it's students in safety and care. As a former employee of the dining hall, this is disgusting and I refuse to work there anymore. They refuse to hire proper employees and I myself have been harassed by the random people they bring in, or they rely completely on students for work and fumble when a student is actually focused on school.

The way food and the dining hall system as a whole is handled at this university is quite frankly, embarrassing and shameful. We need to act now for better food, open more days, more employees, and possibly even GET OUR MONEY BACK for wasted and unused dining hall swipes. If we're lucky we can fight against the raw sewage in the pipes too!
