DEMANDING RESTORATION OF IPOTI-EKITI
We want the whole world to intervene on the issue of balkanization of a town in Ekiti-state, called Ipoti-Ekiti by Governor Fayemi, the administrator of Ekiti-state government.

Ipoti-Ekiti came to existence about 500 to 600 years ago. The town was formed by different people that came together and later formed three major clans for easy administration. However, they have been co-existing peacefully since then.

In 2007 gubernatorial election in which Dr John Kayode Fayemi contested on the platform of AC, he lost the election to Engr. Segun Oni, the PDP candidate. Dr. John Kayode Fayemi later challenged the result of the election in court and was able to win the petition after the votes of Ipoti-Ekiti( in Ijero local government )people for the PDP candidate were annulled.

When Governor Fayemi became the governor, he decided to take a revenge on the community with a resolve to see to the complete annihilation of the town through communal upheavals.

He has since then embarked on the balkanization of the town by granting autonomy to different factions of the clans without recourse to the traditional political setting. He granted unwarranted autonomies to smaller groups within Ipoti-Ekiti with no apparent land for any of the clan or factions to call theirs. The community builds their houses around each other.

No clan has a separate land, they are intertwined, interlocked and interwoven and as such inseparable along clans. They all have the same schools, market, farmland and churches and even fetch water from the same streams.
The groups that were given autonomy have been boasting of having the support of Governor Fayemi because they said they have paid him and that he would grant them anything they ask for and all indications are pointing to that.
Governor Fayemi behaves like a dictator in Ekiti- state who doesn’t listen to contrary views. He has oppressed so many towns of which Ipoti-Ekiti is one. He has however, even stopped the king of Ipoti-Ekiti from performing his constitutional roles of conferring chieftaincy on his followers.

We beg the federal Government to intervene in Ipoti- Ekiti to help reverse the balkanization before governor Fayemi sets the town at blaze. This is necessary because the community is sitting on a keg of gun powder. We don’t want Ife Modakeke episode.
