Abolish Politician Lifelong Wages, Use For Social & Medical Economic Recovery

Abolish Politician Lifelong Wages, Use For Social & Medical Economic Recovery
The issue
As an ongoing result of the Coronavirus pandemic in 2019, it is now being highlighted appropriately how many Australian's are suffering from ongoing lockdowns, lack of employment, mental health issues, lack of access to medical support, the inability to provide for themselves and their families, minimisation of education for their children and the inability to care for close relatives and families due to state border requirements. This crisis has been ongoing for years, starting long before the pandemic, but becoming increasingly important as things escalate and the population grows, and although we make slow progress continually via the administration of vaccines regarding Covid in particular (they are free, though oral chemotherapy costs an Australian citizen top dollar), and with clinics being able to provide instant Medicare rebates, there are still many anomalies in the way that Australian Federal and State Governments are handling these whole medical and economic issues causing segregation within the Australian population and allowing for the spread of misinformation through lack of action, while still lining their own pockets at the present time. Budgets are lowered for services that are essential to Australian citizens, Newsource newsfeeds and positions to be honest and make a difference across the country close their posts to comments from citizens which reduces intelligent discussion and increases bias, while MP's leaving parliament are still receiving 'resettlement allowances' and 'parliamentary pensions'. The Australian population with serious medical conditions are having to pay top dollar for expensive required services with minimum Medicare rebates such as insulin (Diabetics), eye care and laser (Macular Degeneration, Astigmatism, etc.), clinical and specialist appointments (Mental Health, Cardiac and Respiratory patients, Physical rehabilitation programs etc). Certain members of government departments get access to these services at highly reduced costs or even for free. This is only minimal examples, the federal and state budgets could fuel additional funding into these areas to support people who have no choice but to live with these conditions. The population grows, yes, though sustainability is achievable through both Government and unified action now, not later. Most importantly, concise communication needs to occur down the chain, to instil a sense of trust in these authoritive figures. If it is hard, or departments are not sure, be honest and open, what citizens can achieve if they understand what we are dealing with via honesty could be incredible. It will not be long before it is too late.
As lockdowns continue, and Melbourne heads towards the world's most locked down city by October 29th, 2021 (if this easing plan is effective once 70% of the Victorian population are vaccinated around this point in time, Melbourne will still overtake Buenos Aires as the world's most locked down city averaging 265 days within 2 years, and these citizens will just be 'expected' to get themselves back onto their own feet, with payments such as Job Keeper ceasing on 28th March 2021, and redrawing on Superannuations being once again an option that is hard to access). There is not currently enough support for Australian's to obtain help getting back on their feet after having their lives upheaved in so many ways for so long, while certain politicians will have accumulated wealth that will allow them to pursue whatever they wish to do once allowed to resume everyday life, (and some have lives that have not even changed, or have access to free transportation and specialist care). Many Australian's will suffer obtaining jobs, careers, mental and health support as these services will be overwhelmed more than they already are and unfortunately not enough Australians have been incentivised to be educated in these fields as they obtain no benefits by entering such professions (and are often charged highly for this, while also paying taxes), and are at a stage in time where these healthcare professionals are being abused/mistreated due to the lack of available GP's and clinics in operation, which provides less incentive to enter into such a career path. Clinics are closing and not accepting new patients in Tasmania, first time mothers are being discharged from hospitals in the Northern Territory days after giving birth with health issues without correct medication and rehab options are being limited, access to mental health records are being restricted in Western Australia and regional services are few, patients are being forced to wait in emergency for up to/over 15 hours in South Australia. This economic recovery is a federal problem, being pushed down the line via state governments onto the Australian public. No, the Government cannot fix all of these problems, but yes, the Government can minimise the lining of their own pockets to pump further funding into the economy (particularly medical and education), they can also be transparent about the issues that the Australian public are facing and stop hiding statistics about availability of services, riots and crime rates in areas during hard times. The support is not there, they are overwhelmed and are not admitting it, many government officials have made errors and are not admitting it and the average Australian will reach a point where they do not know what else to do and will suffer further and further as a result. Start asking the Australian public what they need, and stop trying to "protect" yourselves: there are empathetic people who could become doctors out there who have just not had the right opportunities arise yet (find them), there are warehouse personnel who are waiting for jobs in their area in a time when transportation of goods is so important (emply them), there are smart people who could become remote educators who have no education available to them at the moment (give them tools and access), in certain areas there are lazy people sitting on their asses at home happy to have the essential worker pay taxes to support them via payments they don't deserve (stop giving these people payments, make them become essential workers if they do not have health issues, why should they be at home? Why should you not care enough about this, but care that you have access to private transport, personal security and extended holidays?). This is happening already in Victoria and New South Wales.
A bill needs to be created in Federal Parliament to abolish the payments of resettlement allowances and parliamentary pensions to politicians, and this funding needs to be converted into educating/incentivsing the current and future Australian's of the importance of community, and the vitality of a stable economical system and the benefits of careers in the educational/medical/goods and services/essential industries. Everyone has a role they can play, and all jobs/careers and lives are important. Further (and more attractive) incentives need to be provided, and can be provided. They say knowledge is power, but knowledge is growth. If incentives were provided to young Australians of the right calibre to enter the medical industry as one example, there would be more education and support for the average Australian suffering with mental health during the easing of lockdown and the challenges that will lie ahead, and further access to health facilities and specialist clinics which would eventually lower costs for essential services, increase bulk billing services and allow Autralians easier access to facilities and the assistance they were promised when Medicare was introduced in 1984.
If this does not happen, Australian citizens will suffer further, the downward spiral will continue and it will get to a point where crime rates and riot rates will continually increase so the average Australian can afford to simply get by financially and mentally.
In the Australian Constitution, it should be reminded to parliament, that it is currently possible for the Australian public (if enough support and momentum is achieved) are able to request a dissolution of the Australian Government via a bill put forward via the Prime Minister to the Australian Governor General, who would seek advice from the Royal British Monarchy to dissolve parliament, though the real/intelligent solution would be for the Federal Parliament to start ceasing to pay full pension rates to ex politicians and treat them as average retired Australians just like the rest of us (including essential and highly educated public service personnel like Doctors and educators), and using these funds to attract the Australian public to enter the essential industries with reduced education costs, increased educational degrees and added health care benefits for members of the health workforce and their families, and incentives for moving families to places where these services are most needed by covering certain relocation and education costs, instead of lining their own pockets more. Some aspects of this are occurring slowly, but start reducing your personal profits and try fuelling this growth more rapidly, and educate yourselves further to the needs of the people you promised to look after. This would increase available care, career access and minimise future health/economic issues as the population inevitably grows, increasing sustainability in a certain sense.
Federal Parliament, we the Australian people, ask that you pass a bill to cease to pay higher than necessary wages to yourselves, and to your ex employees both Federal and State, and start considering the long term health effects of all Australian Citizens as life moves towards a new sense of normality. Stop being this level of passive and injust, and most importantly, start taking direct action now and stop avoiding important issues by simply talking about them and making haphazard plans, take critical and financial action. We understand you cannot do everything, and no one is asking you to, but a fair start would be supplying yourselves with the levels of superannuation and benefits of, say, a doctor or GP or education minister, and using the additional funds left over that you currently pay yourselves long term to provide more equitably for the people who have elected you into office (without a choice, might we add. You make us vote and penalise us if we do not). Give us all a chance to grow as an equitable nation by fuelling our economy with cheaper medical education, medical care and further incentives/benefits to ensure Australian citizens are able to cope with the inevitable change to a future lifestyle that will certainly be different, and help Australia cope with the rise in population and increase in medical health concerns/deterioration of economic and health care facilities.
