Ronell Wilson, 18 Years Later....

Ronell Wilson, 18 Years Later....
The Issue
As we all know, Ronell Wilson was convicted of the killing of 2 undercover detectives in Staten Island. I come to you all, with this second petition, to shed light on Wilson, 18yrs later. I will begin by stating, since his incarceration, Wilson has changed for the better. As he ages, he becomes more involved in positivity. He was awarded a certificate and monetary award for helping in the protection of a female Unit Manager, who was being physically threatened by another inmate. Wilson, along with a few other inmates, distracted the inmate threatening the Unit Manager, until more staff arrived.
Wilson has a son that he adores. All he wants is to be apart of his son’s life. He’s become such a great role model to his niece and nephew, keeping them out of trouble by using examples of his own actions. Wilson is set to be transferred to yet, another USP facility. There is no room for him to continue to grow and use the resources to continue on to a positive path. We are in no way glorifying his actions that’s landed him in prison. We are simply trying to get him rehabilitated. Isn’t that what the prison system is about, rehabilitating? His initial sentence of the death penalty had been overturned, due to his mental state. Therefore, we are asking that he be transferred to a medium facility, where he continue to mature and stay positive. Wilson isn’t a man who doesn’t care about life, he wants nothing more than to live a long and healthy life, while being able to have some contact with his son, family and friends. He’s written 2 children’s books some years back. The officers will always look at him as a monster, that isn’t fair on his behalf. He was a young kid, running with the wrong crowd. His codefendants’ testimonies had several inconsistencies, yet, they still convicted Ronell Wilson of the murder. Wilson chose to keep quiet because his name was already tarnished and he knew there was nothing he can do or say, to help in his honor. I’ve been working closely with Wilson’s mom and sister, who adore him so much, they are all scared of what can happen to him in those maximum facilities. He’s gotten very sick and was neglected any care. Yes, he’s convicted of murdering 2 undercover detectives but, he is still a human being who deserves to be treated as such. The system is designed to fail us, when it was technically created for change. Every convicted felon, who is willing, should be given a second change to redeem themselves. Myself and his family are asking that the Federal Bureau of Investigation, please consider allowing Ronell Wilson the opportunity to redeem himself in a more positive manner. Starting with transferring him to a medium facility and allowing him to see his son. Keeping him in a negative environment, will only keep him in a dark space without a care in the world. That isn’t what he wants for himself.
If the criminal justice system can find it in their hearts to accommodate this change for Wilson, that would be a great start.
