The Issue

History reminds us that a country that doesn't remember its past doesn't have a future.

In 1960, Prime Minister John Diefenbaker introduced the Canadian Bill of Rights. It begins with, “The Parliament of Canada, affirming that the Canadian Nation is founded upon principles that acknowledge the Supremacy of God."

In 1981, Pierre Elliott Trudeau signed his name to the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms. The Charter begins with, “Whereas Canada is founded upon principles that recognize the Supremacy of God and the rule of law.”

Today we are at a point where we must do a lot of searching to find out what our founding fathers stood for. As per records, the founders of our nation intended to establish a nation built on godly values. Godly values that bring spiritually fulfilling family morals to our homes, our neighborhoods, and our cities across Canada.

Christian Heritage is a relationship of faith between man and God, where Christians are encouraged to teach our younger generations that the God of the Bible still takes an active interest in the day-to-day lives of His children. Love God. Love People. Make disciples. This is our true Christian heritage! The book of John 13:34 says, "A new command I give you: Love one another as I have loved you, so you must love one another." Verse 35 goes on to say, “By this everyone will know that you are my disciples.”

Christians are generally known as a loving, caring community toward all people with a need for freedom from oppression and political tyranny. Slavery was mostly eradicated from Western civilization by Christians between the fourth and tenth centuries.

In Canada, Christianity proves to be the solace for the oppressed and the needy. As Christians, we believe that we are all created equal in the eyes of God. No one has the right to rule unless elected to do so. This is the moral basis of anti-slavery and human democracy.

Canada is known as a peacekeeping force for the rest of the world today, thanks to our fundamental Christian views. We are a mosaic of all nationalities because of our policies founded on Christian principles. We love and support all faith communities, and we strive to work together in love to resolve and restore peace.

Christian Missions and Missionaries across the world help many nations to educate and eradicate the cycle of poverty. The Salvation Army and World Vision organizations are two examples of Christian generosity throughout the world and in our communities. Most of our universities and educational institutions are founded on these fundamental Christian principles.

This Christian Heritage is something we are all proud of. Therefore, we come together every year during the month of December to reflect, remember, and celebrate our glorious past. Christian Heritage Month is important for our future as a community and as a nation.

Christian historian Leonard Nez stated, "the Bible is the heritage for all those who believe. It contains the mind of God, the state of man, the way of salvation, the doom of sinners, and the happiness of believers. Its doctrines are holy, its precepts are binding, its histories are true. It contains light for our path, food for support, and comfort to cheer us. We read it to be wise, we believe it to be safe, and we practice it to be holy."

This is why we should preserve and celebrate this heritage in every city and province across Canada for future generations.

We want to celebrate this wonderful heritage in every province and city across Canada! Our heritage is not taught in our schools today, and it is not found in our children's textbooks. Most of our heritage has been omitted in the name of political correctness.

As a country, we are at a point where we must search for what our founding fathers stood for. The founders of our nation intended to establish a nation built on Godly values, which bring spiritually fulfilling family morals to our homes, neighborhoods, and cities across this beautiful land.

In December month we celebrate Advent and Christmas because we remember that a child was born to give eternal hope and joy to the world,  came to be our Savior fulfilled His mission with His love for mankind.

Therefore we like to have every December month as Christian Heritage Month, and we will continue to pray for our elected leaders of our provinces and our country, that they too will see the same vision as our founding fathers once did!

It is for all these reasons we the followers of Jesus Christ of this great country are asking our provincial and federal government to proclaim and preserve this rich heritage and declare every December month as Christian Heritage Month across Canada!
