As we approach finals, black students are being harmed and dying disproportionately during the COVID-19 epidemic, at the hands of police, and as they march through the streets. Other black students are trying to do the best they can to organize from home to make a change that will carry this country into an age of anti-racism. The deaths of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, and Breonna Taylor, and countless others deserve justice. There aren't enough words to explain the pain we have felt in these past days weeks as we fight for black lives.

As we beg the world for justice, we still have to manage our schoolwork. It has reached a point where we have to decide between human rights and passing a class. Our institution needs to provide us with the tools for success in and out of the classroom. We need to negotiate for fair accommodations on assignments for the rest of the quarter for black students at Seattle University.
