Farm Factory Act To Reduce Dangerous Infections to Public modeled after Michigan
The Issue
The song & video is "Opus One" by Madison Park from the CD, Boutique. This video was created to give a mild reflection of the way 95% of animals are raised for food. It's called Factory Farming and it must be stopped. Visit: www.madison-park.com and/or www.savingopusone.com

Mary Tyler Moore entitled "Life Behind Bars" talks about the horrible conditions farm factory animals are kept. Please watch (Thank you Farm Sanctuary for this video!)-this leads to horrendous stress and infections. A hog industry spokesman stated, "Forget the pig is an animal. Treat it like a machine in a factory. Schedule treatments like you would lubrication. Breeding season like the first stack in an assembly line, and marketing like the delivery of finished goods." The same is said of chickens and turkeys. See it here!

RAW RED MEAT ALSO HAS RESISTANT STREP - WHICH IS *FLESH EATING BACTERIA*. IF ONE SO MUCH AS TOUCH RAW MEAT INFECTED WITH THIS STREP, ONE CAN SET ONESELF UP FOR A MASSIVE INFECTION (just from a microcrack in skin!) THAT WILL INVADE INTO THE BLOOD SYSTEM CAUSING MULTI SYSTEM ORGAN FAILURE AND ~~DEATH!!~~ Blood infection with resistant Strep is almost always fatal, costing over a million dollars per person to treat.

Drug-resistant infections lurk in meat we eat
Animals routinely fed antibiotics harbor virulent germs that jump to people
MSNBC: 12/29/09, quoted in part:
"A strep infection spread, threatening his life and baffling doctors. Two months of multiple antibiotics did virtually nothing. The answer was flowing in the veins of the boar. The animal had been fed low doses of penicillin, spawning a strain of strep that was resistant to other antibiotics. That drug-resistant germ passed to Kremer."

NOTE THIS IS HIGHLY CONTAGIOUS JUST TO TOUCH THE RAW MEAT IN PREPARATION!!
FARM FACTORY ACT MODELED AFTER MICHIGAN'S HB 5127 just passed to Law
Synopsis: Farm factory animals are routeinly kept in cruel confined areas so small they can scarecly move. Chickens are often kept in cages no larger than the size of a piece of paper, living their whole life in their. These animals live in their own feces and urine, leads to tremendous, relentless stress, pain, open wounds (becoming portals of infection), necessitating keeping them alive with daily doses of antibiotics leading to resistant strains of bacterial infections including highly contageous MRSA and VRE in raw meat-just by touching the raw meat can infect humans and children. Chronically stressed animals leads to immune compromised systems also giving rise to bird and swine flu outbreaks (ALL swine and bird flus originate from farm factories!). Farm factory practices of cruelty must end for the safety of public health. Once one animal gets sick, it spreads throughout due to close confines along with poor ventilation (their lungs burn from the fumes of ammonia from the feces and urine.) Less stressed, cleaner livestock means healthier animals.
REMEDY:
Cleanliness is next to Godliness: Keep the farm factory animals in cleaner environments with more room to move! Keep stress levels down. STOP ABUSING THEM!
Michigan just passed historic HB5127, which all 50 States should model for community health-by reducing the stress of animals will reduce incidences of infection. The new law will require that egg-laying hens, breeding pigs and veal calves must be able to stand up, lie down, turn around and extend their limbs, rather than being confined in cages that permit very limited movement.

"HB 5127 gained support in both the House and Senate, with the House approving it 87-20 and the Senate approving it 36-0. The House concurred today with the Senate version of the bill by a vote of 86-22. Animal welfare groups—including the Michigan Humane Society, The Humane Society of the United States and Farm Sanctuary—applaud state lawmakers, agricultural groups and environmental groups for supporting the measure to make Michigan a farm animal welfare leader."
Lets model our State like Michigan, for a more Humane Nation, but also to safeguard public health. Let us make our State like this for public health.
IN DEPTH ANALYSIS AND FACTS:
WHY IS IT NECESSARY TO REDUCE STRESS WITH FARM ANIMALS: They will become healthier thereby reducing infections considerably.
"Cleanliness is next to Godliness" happens to be the golden rule of health. Although it is cheaper to keep farm factory animals locked up in cages so small they can't move and force them to live in their own excrement and their lungs burn from the fumes of ammonia from the waste, keeping them alive with daily doses of antibiotics-it is costing the health care system BILLIONS of dollars a year treating the complications of MRSA, VRE, and giving rise to even more super bugs such as CRE. Please consider all the following links proving antibiotic abuse in farm factories gives rise to super bugs:
All animals have staph on their skin as normal bacteria flora. Now do the math:
Staph + antibiotic abuse = MRSA (staph adapts and becomes the super-bug). This is common sense.

"SEATTLE -- A ground-breaking investigation by KOMO-TV in Seattle has found toxic, life-threatening Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus (MRSA) bacteria in some pork you might buy at grocery stores." This research group purchased numerous packages of raw pork and many tested positive for live MRSA in the meat. So you touch it it is like touching a MRSA patient who is supposed to be under isolation.

Hepatitis E In Europe: Are Pigs Or Pork The Problem?
ScienceDaily (Sep. 4, 2007) — Hepatitis E virus infections can be fatal in pregnant women, but until recently doctors thought the disease was confined to China, India and developing countries. Now Europeans are also contracting the disease here, according to scientists.
Hepatitis E is a fecal-oral disease. Pigs live in their own excrement so if one pig has Hepatitis E-they ALL get it due to confined living spaces, sharing each others' feces and urine. Hepatitis is a special virus-each is housed with a tough shell so ordinary cooking will NOT kill it and neither will freezing: You have to autoclave (sterilize) the meat for about 20 minutes to kill hepatitis. If it was found in Europe, I have no doubt it is also in the USA but of course they won't check on that.
Animals that are highly stressed, living in their own excrement, in the filthiest conditions combined with multiple wounds (much of it from abusive man handling), gives rise to antibiotic resistant diseases and their reduced immune system is responsible for bird and swine flus (chicken, turkey and pig farms)-so much as one animal gets it, they ALL do. Quickly. In fact, turkeys/birds/swine can even catch swine flu from people!

Turkeys in Chile Found to Have Swine Flu Health Official Says Birds Are Infected With 'Human Virus,' Not a Mutated Form
Associated Press
Saturday, August 22, 2009
SANTIAGO, Chile, Aug. 21 -- Chilean officials said Friday that tests show swine flu has jumped to birds, opening a new chapter in the progress of the global epidemic.
SWINE FLU AND FARM FACTORIES
http://hsus.typepad.com/wayne/2009/04/swine-flu.html
Factory farming practices have directly led to the emergence of deadly human pathogens including mad cow disease, Strep suis, Nipah virus, multi-drug resistant foodborne bacteria, and highly pathogenic strains of avian influenza. Although AIDS has killed 25 million people, the reason there is so much concern about influenza is that it is the only known pathogen capable of infecting literally billions of people in a matter of months.
With international attention now focused on the emerging H1N1 swine flu virus, it is important to reflect on how such viruses arise.
The first recorded emergence of a swine flu virus like the one we now face, incorporating both human and avian genes, was on a factory farm in North Carolina in 1998. When thousands of animals are crowded into filthy, football field-sized sheds to lie beak to beak or snout to snout atop their own waste, it can be a breeding ground for disease. (unquote)
