The family and friends of Dehaino Lee Bester would like to oppose any bail for Jayden Dirks (Tandjies). The gruesome killing of Dehaino on 02 November 2024 is still fresh in our hearts and minds. Dehaino had a bright future and that was taken away from him by the alleged killers and their accomplices'. The impact of his death was devastating for the family but even more for thousands of young people in the Western Cape as reflected on Tiktok. His influence was far and wide. 

We oppose bail for Jayden Dirks because we feel it will be an injustice to the family and the broader society if he is released on bail, having been implicated in the murder of Dehaino Bester. He is clearly a threat to many others that may be on their hitlist. We see him as a danger for society and he must remain behind bars. It is further alleged that two more suspects are still at large. Only three have been arrested. Releasing him on bail will give him opportunity to further connive with his "partners in crime" and it may result in undermining justice. Jayden Dirks may be a flight risk. He did not come forward voluntary to hand himself over to the police. Now that he is arrested, he may want to escape and be on the run which will cause extra effort by the police to get hold of him again. 
We put our trust in the justice system and hope that justice will reign in the end.
